Going for Gold: Falconer's Hill Academy Celebrates Achievement of Healthy Schools Gold Award

Falconer's Hill Academy has become the first school in the county to achieve the prestigious Healthy Schools Gold Award, recognizing their outstanding commitment to promoting health and wellbeing among pupils.

The Healthy Schools Gold Award is a testament to the school's dedication to identifying and addressing the unique health and wellbeing needs of their students. This accolade follows their successful attainment of the Bronze and Silver Awards, demonstrating sustained efforts and impactful outcomes in fostering a healthy school environment.

Key Achievements:

· Increased Physical Activity: The school focused on increasing the number of pupils who enjoy and regularly participate in physical activities. Through various initiatives, including after-school clubs and lunchtime activities, the percentage of students engaging in physical activity rose from 67% to 93%.

· Healthy Lifestyle Promotion: The intervention included discussions on healthy lifestyles, covering topics such as balanced diets, hydration, and sleep. This holistic approach encouraged students to adopt healthier habits both at school and at home.

· Positive Outcomes: The targeted group of pupils showed significant improvements in self-confidence, self-awareness, and resilience. The project also led to unintended positive outcomes, such as increased mindfulness about hydration and diet among students.

Sustained Efforts:

Falconer's Hill Academy plans to continue its commitment to health and wellbeing by integrating physical activity into daily routines and maintaining a focus on healthy lifestyles. Future initiatives include whole school events, regular surveys to monitor progress, and ongoing engagement with parents to ensure a consistent approach to health education.
